1. Privacy at a Glance
SideTray is designed to work locally on your Mac.
The application does not require a user account and does not operate a cloud service for storing the files or content you place in the application.
Content placed in SideTray is not uploaded to servers operated by the developer.
The application does not contain advertising or behavioural tracking.
2. Content Processed by the Application
SideTray allows you to temporarily place content in a tray at the edge of your screen so that it can be moved between applications, windows, and Spaces.
Depending on the content you provide, this may include:
- files;
- folders;
- images;
- text;
- web links; and
- other supported drag-and-drop content.
This content is processed locally on your Mac for the purpose of providing the application's functionality.
The developer does not receive or have access to the content you place in SideTray.
3. Temporary Files
SideTray may create temporary local files when necessary to provide certain functionality.
For example, when you paste clipboard text into SideTray, the application may create a temporary .txt file that can be dragged into another application.
Temporary files created by SideTray remain on your Mac and are not uploaded to the developer.
They may be removed when you clear SideTray, quit the application, or otherwise remove the corresponding item.
Original files remain at their original location unless you independently move, modify, or delete them using macOS or another application.
4. Clipboard
If you use the clipboard feature, SideTray can convert clipboard text into a temporary file.
Clipboard content is processed locally.
SideTray does not transmit clipboard content to the developer or use it for advertising, analytics, profiling, or artificial-intelligence training.
You should only place information into the application that you are authorised to process.
5. Accessibility Permission
SideTray may request optional macOS Accessibility permission in order to recognise the Command-V keyboard shortcut while the SideTray interface is visible and your pointer is positioned over it.
This permission is used only to provide the clipboard-paste functionality.
SideTray is not designed to create a history of your keystrokes and does not transmit keyboard input to the developer.
The core drag-and-drop functionality can be used without granting this permission.
You can review or withdraw Accessibility permission through the Privacy & Security settings in macOS.
6. Application Settings
SideTray may store application preferences locally on your Mac, such as:
- language settings;
- clipboard-related preferences;
- interface settings; and
- other application preferences.
These settings are stored locally and are not used to create an online user profile.
7. No User Accounts
SideTray does not require you to create an account.
The application does not maintain its own cloud-based user profiles, passwords, or account database.
8. Analytics, Advertising and Tracking
The current version of SideTray does not contain:
- third-party advertising;
- behavioural advertising;
- cross-app tracking;
- marketing trackers; or
- custom user analytics services.
The developer does not sell or rent personal data collected through the application.
9. Apple and the Mac App Store
SideTray is distributed through Apple's Mac App Store.
Apple may independently process information relating to your:
- Apple Account;
- purchase and payment;
- application download;
- device;
- App Store activity;
- crash reports; or
- diagnostic information.
Such processing is carried out by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policies.
The developer generally does not receive your full payment information from Apple.
10. Contact by Email
If you contact the developer by email, the information contained in your message, including your email address, will be processed in order to respond to your request.
Depending on the circumstances, processing may be based on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where necessary in connection with a contract, or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on the legitimate interest in answering enquiries, providing support, and handling feedback.
Please do not include unnecessary confidential or sensitive information in support emails.
11. Data Retention
Because content placed in SideTray is processed locally and is not transmitted to the developer, the developer does not maintain a server-side archive of your SideTray content.
Locally stored application data remains on your Mac until it is removed by the application, by you, or as part of uninstalling or resetting the application.
Personal data contained in support communications may be retained for as long as necessary to handle the request and comply with applicable legal obligations.
12. Your GDPR Rights
Where the developer processes personal data relating to you, you may have rights under the GDPR, including the right to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to certain processing;
- receive certain data in a portable format where applicable; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Because files and other SideTray content are processed locally and are not transmitted to the developer, the developer cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete that local content on your behalf.
To exercise rights concerning personal data held by the developer, contact:
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
13. Security
SideTray is designed to minimise the amount of personal data transmitted outside your Mac.
You remain responsible for protecting access to your Mac and for deciding which files, clipboard content, links, images, or other information you place into the application.
No technical system can guarantee absolute security.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if SideTray's functionality changes, new services are introduced, or applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be made available through the application's website, App Store listing, or another appropriate location.
