SideTray (macOS App) – Max Anton Schneider

Moving a file between windows should not turn into a window-management task.

SideTray gives you a temporary shelf at the left edge of your screen. Drop something into it, move to the app or Space where you need it, then drag it out again. Your desktop stays clear and your windows can stay exactly where they are.

HOW IT WORKS

Move your pointer to the left edge of the screen.
Drop files or content into the shelf.
Switch to your destination.
Drag the item out and keep working.

SideTray accepts files, folders, images, web links, and text. Items stay together in one compact shelf, ready for the next step in your workflow.

TURN COPIED TEXT INTO A FILE

With the shelf open, press Command-V to turn clipboard text into a ready-to-drag .txt file. It is a fast way to move a note, code snippet, address, or message into any app that accepts files.

BUILT FOR THE WAY YOU USE YOUR MAC

TEMPORARY BY DESIGN

SideTray is a handoff point, not another place to organize. Original files remain where they are. Temporary items created from pasted text or dropped image data are removed when you clear the shelf or quit the app.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

SideTray processes your items locally on your Mac. It does not require an account and does not upload your content. Accessibility permission is optional and used only to recognize Command-V while the pointer is over the visible shelf. Drag and drop works without this permission.
