MenuDeskTime Support
MenuDeskTime is a private, automatic work-time tracker for the macOS menu bar.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does tracking start?
MenuDeskTime automatically begins a session when you actively use your Mac. There is no timer you need to start manually.
What happens when I step away?
Counting pauses when your Mac reaches the configured idle threshold, is locked, or goes to sleep. A short break continues the current session. After a longer break, a new session begins when you return.
Does MenuDeskTime record what I do?
No. MenuDeskTime does not record keystrokes, mouse activity, applications, websites, documents, or screen contents. It only determines whether your Mac is active or idle.
Where is my data stored?
All sessions and preferences are stored locally on your Mac. MenuDeskTime has no account, analytics service, or cloud synchronization.
How can I change the tracking behavior?
Open MenuDeskTime from the menu bar and select the gear icon. The Tracking settings let you adjust the idle threshold and the time after which a new session begins.
How can I delete a session?
Open the MenuDeskTime popover, right-click a completed session under Recent Sessions, and select Delete Session.
How do break reminders work?
When enabled, MenuDeskTime displays one quiet notification after the selected amount of active work. It does not repeatedly notify you during the same session.
How do I quit MenuDeskTime?
Right-click its menu bar item and select Quit MenuDeskTime.
