1. Privacy at a Glance
Transcriptify is designed to work completely offline.
Audio files, video files, generated transcripts, selected languages, and transcription content are processed locally on your Mac. They are not uploaded to us or transmitted to our servers.
We do not operate a backend server for Transcriptify and do not receive or have access to the files you process in the application.
2. Local Processing of Audio and Video Files
When you select or drag an audio or video file into Transcriptify, the file is processed directly on your device.
This processing may include:
- accessing the file selected by you;
- extracting audio from a video file;
- analysing the audio locally;
- detecting the spoken language;
- generating a transcript; and
- displaying or copying the resulting transcript.
The selected files and generated transcripts remain on your device unless you choose to copy, save, share, or otherwise export them.
Transcriptify does not automatically upload, transmit, share, or store this content on any external server.
3. Transcription Model
Transcriptify uses a locally executed version of the OpenAI Whisper speech-recognition model.
The model runs on your Mac. Your audio, video, and transcript content is not sent to OpenAI through Transcriptify.
The use of the Whisper model does not mean that OpenAI receives or processes your files.
OpenAI is not the provider, sponsor, or operator of Transcriptify.
4. No User Accounts
Transcriptify does not require you to create a user account.
We do not collect registration information, passwords, profiles, usage histories, or cloud-stored transcripts through the application.
5. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
Transcriptify does not contain:
- advertising;
- third-party advertising trackers;
- behavioural tracking;
- cross-app tracking;
- user profiling;
- custom analytics services; or
- marketing SDKs.
We do not use the content of your files or transcripts for advertising, analytics, artificial-intelligence training, or profiling.
6. Apple and the Mac App Store
Transcriptify is distributed through Apple’s Mac App Store.
Apple may process information relating to your App Store account, purchase, download, device, payment, diagnostics, or use of the App Store. This processing is carried out independently by Apple and is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and contractual terms.
We generally do not receive your payment information from Apple.
Apple may provide developers with aggregated sales, download, performance, or diagnostic information. Where such information does not identify an individual user, it is not personal data in relation to us.
Depending on your macOS and App Store privacy settings, Apple may also collect and process crash or diagnostic information. You can manage the sharing of analytics and diagnostic information in your Apple device settings.
7. Contact by Email
When you contact us by email, we process the information contained in your message, including your email address, to respond to your request.
Depending on the nature of your request, the legal basis for this processing is:
- Article 6(1)(b) GDPR, where the communication is necessary to perform a contract or take steps before entering into a contract; or
- Article 6(1)(f) GDPR, based on our legitimate interest in answering questions, providing support, and handling feedback.
We retain support correspondence only for as long as necessary to process the request and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Email communication may involve the processing of data by the email and hosting providers used to deliver and store messages.
8. Legal and Administrative Obligations
We may process limited personal data where necessary to:
- comply with legal obligations;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims;
- respond to lawful requests from authorities; or
- document business transactions and support cases.
The applicable legal bases may include Article 6(1)(c) and Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
9. Data Retention
Because Transcriptify does not transmit your files or transcripts to us, we do not set a retention period for this content.
Files, transcripts, application data, and locally stored preferences remain under your control on your Mac. You can remove them by deleting the relevant files, clearing application data where available, or uninstalling the application.
Personal data received through support emails is deleted when it is no longer required for the relevant purpose, unless statutory retention obligations require longer storage.
10. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
We do not share audio files, video files, or transcripts processed in Transcriptify because we do not receive them.
Personal data submitted through support communications may be processed by service providers that assist us with email, hosting, or technical infrastructure. Such providers may process data only to the extent necessary to provide their services and subject to applicable data-protection requirements.
11. International Data Transfers
The application itself does not transfer your audio, video, or transcript content internationally.
Apple and providers used for email or technical services may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards under applicable data-protection law.
Please refer to the privacy information of the respective provider for further details.
12. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you may have the right to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion of your personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive data you provided in a portable format where applicable; and
- withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
Because we do not receive the files or transcripts processed within Transcriptify, we cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete such locally stored content for you.
To exercise your rights regarding personal data held by us, contact:
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
13. Security
Transcriptify is designed to minimise privacy risks by processing transcription content locally.
You remain responsible for protecting access to your Mac, selected files, generated transcripts, clipboard content, backups, and exported documents. We recommend using appropriate device security, encryption, access controls, and secure backups, particularly when processing confidential or sensitive recordings.
14. Children
Transcriptify is not specifically directed at children. The application does not knowingly collect personal data directly from children through an account or online service.
Parents and legal guardians are responsible for supervising the use of the application by minors and ensuring that recordings are processed lawfully.
15. Lawful Use of Recordings
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the necessary rights, permissions, and legal basis to record, access, process, and transcribe audio or video content.
Transcriptify does not verify whether the persons contained in a recording have consented to being recorded or transcribed.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the application, its technical operation, or applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be made available through the application, the App Store listing, or an associated website.
