Privacy Policy for MenuGoal

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is handled when you use the macOS application MenuGoal, provided by:

1. Privacy at a Glance
MenuGoal is designed to work locally on your Mac.
Goal information entered into MenuGoal is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to a MenuGoal-operated server.
MenuGoal does not require a user account or cloud service for its core functionality.
2. Goal Information
You may enter information such as:
- a current value;
- a target value;
- a custom goal label;
- a unit or description; and
- related goal settings.
MenuGoal uses this information to calculate and display your current goal progress in the macOS menu bar.
This information is processed locally on your Mac.
We do not receive or have access to the goal information you enter into MenuGoal.
3. Local Storage
MenuGoal may store information locally that is required for the application to function, including:
- your current goal;
- current and target values;
- labels and units;
- application preferences; and
- other local settings.
This information remains on your device unless your macOS configuration or another service selected by you independently backs up or synchronises application data.
4. No User Account or Cloud Service
MenuGoal does not require you to create a MenuGoal account.
We do not operate a MenuGoal cloud service that stores your goals, progress values, labels, or application preferences.
5. No Automatic Data Sources
MenuGoal does not automatically retrieve information from financial accounts, fitness services, social networks, analytics platforms, or other external services.
Progress values are entered manually by the user.
6. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising
MenuGoal does not contain:
- advertising;
- behavioural tracking;
- cross-app tracking;
- user profiling;
- marketing SDKs; or
- custom analytics services.
We do not use your goals or progress information for advertising, marketing, profiling, or artificial-intelligence training.
7. Apple and the Mac App Store
MenuGoal is distributed through Apple’s Mac App Store.
Apple may independently process information relating to your App Store account, device, purchase, download, payment, diagnostics, or use of the App Store.
This processing is performed by Apple and is governed by Apple’s own privacy policies and contractual terms.
We generally do not receive your payment information from Apple.
Apple may provide developers with aggregated sales, download, performance, or diagnostic information.
8. Contact by Email
If you contact us by email, we process the information contained in your message, including your email address, in order to respond.
Depending on the nature of your request, the legal basis for this processing may be:
- Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where communication relates to a contract or pre-contractual measures; or
- Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on our legitimate interest in providing support and responding to enquiries.
Support correspondence is retained only for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose or as required by law.
9. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal data.
Because goal information entered into MenuGoal remains locally on your Mac, we do not receive or share that information.
Personal data sent directly to us through support communications may be processed by service providers necessary to provide email or hosting services.
10. International Data Transfers
MenuGoal itself does not transmit locally stored goal information to a MenuGoal-operated server.
Apple, email providers, or other services you independently interact with may process personal data outside the European Economic Area.
Such processing is governed by the relevant provider and applicable data-protection law.
11. Data Retention
Because we do not receive your locally stored goal information, we do not determine its retention period.
MenuGoal data remains under your control on your Mac.
You can remove locally stored information through functionality provided by the application, by removing application data, or by uninstalling MenuGoal.
Personal data received directly through support communications is retained only for as long as necessary or legally required.
12. Your Rights
Under the GDPR, you may have the right to:
- request access to personal data held about you;
- request correction of inaccurate data;
- request deletion;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive data you provided in a portable format where applicable; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Because we do not receive the goal information processed locally by MenuGoal, we cannot access, retrieve, correct, or delete this locally stored information for you.

13. Security
MenuGoal is designed to minimise privacy risks by keeping goal information on your Mac.
You remain responsible for protecting:
- access to your Mac;
- your macOS user account;
- locally stored goal information; and
- device backups.
If you choose to enter confidential or sensitive information as a goal label or value, you should take appropriate measures to protect access to your device.
14. Children
MenuGoal is a general-purpose productivity utility and is not specifically directed at children.
The application does not knowingly collect personal data from children through an online account or service operated by us.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if MenuGoal, its technical operation, or applicable legal requirements change.
The current version will be made available through the application, App Store listing, or an associated website.
